Asst. Product Manager - Microtrac

- Drive the growth and development of the Microtrac product portfolio in the assigned market, with a focus on particle characterization and material characterization solutions.
- Develop a strong technical and commercial understanding of Microtrac technologies including Laser Diffraction, Dynamic Image Analysis, Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Zeta Potential, dispersion & stability analysis, gas adsorption, surface area, porosity and density measurement.
- Work closely with the sales team, customers and application specialists to identify customer requirements, understand analytical challenges and recommend the most suitable Microtrac solution.
- Conduct and support product demonstrations, customer presentations, technical seminars, workshops and application discussions at customer sites, exhibitions and other industry events.
- Develop new business opportunities by identifying potential applications and customers across pharmaceuticals, chemicals, batteries, advanced materials, ceramics, food, cosmetics, mining, minerals, metals, polymers, coatings, catalysts and other relevant industries.
- Act as the technical and product expert for the Microtrac portfolio, supporting the sales team with product positioning, application selection, competitive comparisons, quotations and customer discussions.
- Work closely with Microtrac's international product management, application and technical teams to bring market feedback, customer requirements and competitive intelligence into the organization.
- Support the development and execution of product-specific sales and marketing strategies, including market mapping, target-account identification, lead generation and new application development.
- Track market trends, competitor activities, pricing, product developments and emerging technologies in the field of particle and material characterization and translate these insights into business opportunities.
- Prepare and maintain product presentations, application notes, technical literature, training material and other sales-enablement tools in coordination with the marketing and technical teams.
- Conduct regular product training for the sales and service teams, ensuring that the team is confident in positioning Microtrac solutions and understanding the appropriate analytical technique for different applications.
- Support the sales team in tender specifications, technical proposals, customer evaluations, trials and method/application development, wherever required.
- Maintain a healthy product pipeline and support sales forecasting, revenue planning and achievement of business targets for the Microtrac portfolio.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, chemical and material manufacturers, universities and other strategic accounts.
- Represent Microtrac at trade exhibitions, conferences, technical seminars and customer events, strengthening brand visibility and developing new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams including Sales, Service, Applications, Marketing and Finance, as well as Microtrac's global product and technical teams, to ensure smooth execution of business opportunities.
Qualifications
- PhD/Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related technical discipline.
- B.E./B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering or a related field may also be considered with strong relevant industry experience.
- 8–9 years of relevant experience preferred, with a minimum of 5–6 years of experience in analytical instrumentation, scientific equipment, particle characterization, material characterization, laboratory instrumentation or a related technical B2B industry.
- Strong understanding of particle characterization, material properties and analytical measurement techniques; experience with particle size, particle shape, surface area, porosity, zeta potential, dispersion stability or related technologies will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in technical sales, product management, application development, business development or a combination of these functions, preferably within scientific/analytical instrumentation.
- Strong ability to understand customer applications and translate technical requirements into commercially viable solutions.
- Excellent presentation, communication, negotiation and customer-facing skills, with the ability to interact confidently with scientists, researchers, QC/QA professionals, R&D teams, production teams and senior management.
- Strong commercial orientation with the ability to develop markets, identify new applications, generate opportunities and support revenue growth.
- Willingness to travel extensively across the assigned territory and, when required, internationally for customer visits, exhibitions, training and meetings with the global Microtrac team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, entrepreneurial and ownership-driven approach.
