Microtrac develops leading solutions for particle characterization. Carbolite supplies high-performance laboratory furnaces and ovens. Eltra enables precise elemental analysis. QATM takes care of metallographic sample preparation and hardness testing and Erweka is our producer of pharmaceutical testing devices.

Export Business Development Manager (m/f/d) – Mining Industry

The Export Business Development Manager – Mining Industry is responsible for driving revenue growth and market penetration of Verder Scientific brands including Retsch, Eltra, Carbolite, and Microtrac within the mining sector. This role focuses on building strong relationships with key mining houses, laboratories, and engineering teams, providing technical solutions, and positioning Verder products as essential tools for sample preparation, analysis, and material characterization.

Your responsibilities as Export Business Development Manager – Mining Industry:

  • Mining Market Development: Drive business growth across Sub-Saharan Africa by identifying opportunities within mining companies, laboratories, and project pipelines; align activities with export strategy and regional priorities.
  • Technical Solution Selling: Promote Verder Scientific instrumentation (Retsch, Eltra, Carbolite Gero, Microtrac) by advising on mining applications including sample preparation, elemental analysis, and metallurgical testing (Fire Assay, XRF, ICP, TGA).
  • Key Account Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with mining stakeholders including metallurgists, lab managers, and process engineers; develop strategic account plans and long-term partnerships.
  • Distributor & Channel Development: Identify, onboard, and develop distributors with strong mining networks; drive performance through training, joint visits, and pipeline development.
  • Sales Strategy & Pipeline Management: Manage CRM pipeline, forecasting, and reporting; leverage market intelligence on mining trends, commodity cycles, and competitor activity to drive territory planning.
  • Commercial Execution & Export Coordination: Lead negotiations, manage tenders and project-based sales, and ensure compliance with export regulations, pricing frameworks, and documentation requirements.

  • Mining Industry Expertise: Strong knowledge of mining operations, ore characterization, and metallurgical processes.
  • Technical Instrumentation Knowledge: Experience with laboratory equipment for sample preparation, elemental analysis (C/S, ONH), and particle characterization.
  • B2B Technical Sales Experience: Proven track record in solution selling within mining, laboratory, or analytical instrumentation environments.
  • Export & Channel Management: Experience in international sales, distributor management, and market development across African territories.
  • Commercial & Strategic Acumen: Ability to drive revenue growth, manage KPIs, and align with structured pricing and sales strategies. 
  • Communication & Stakeholder Management: Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills across technical and commercial stakeholders; high level of autonomy and willingness to travel.
