We are a dedicated and motivated team of 18 people, located in Johannesburg, and represent the six brands of our group in the domestic market, providing laboratories with innovative, precise and efficient solutions: Retsch is our specialist in laboratory mills and sieving equipment. Microtrac develops leading solutions for particle characterization. Carbolite supplies high-performance laboratory furnaces and ovens. Eltra enables precise elemental analysis. QATM takes care of metallographic sample preparation and hardness testing and ERWEKA is our producer of pharmaceutical testing devices.

Expanding our footprint in research, industrial, academic, and commercial environments requires consultative, application-driven sales - therefore we are looking for a Sales Specialist - Scientific Equipment (m/f/d) based in Cape Town. In this role, you will drive revenue growth by recommending the right technical solutions and building long-term customer partnerships.

Primary responsibilities as Sales Specialist - Scientific Equipment

  • Promote and sell scientific instruments and solutions across the Western Cape to deliver sustainable revenue growth and achieve targets
  • Identify and develop new business while strengthening existing customer relationships across research, industrial, academic, and commercial environments
  • Understand customer applications and consult on suitable technical solutions, including quality control-related use cases where relevant
  • Conduct product demonstrations, presentations, and customer training to build confidence and accelerate decision-making
  • Manage the full sales cycle end-to-end (lead follow-up, quotation preparation, accurate sales records/reporting) and collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure strong support and after-sales service

As Sales Specialist - Scientific Equipment, you're a perfect match if ...

  • A National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or a BSc in Chemistry, Physics, or Chemical Engineering is part of your background
  • Minimum 2 years of sales experience in the Western Cape (preferably scientific, technical, or industrial) has shaped your approach
  • Strong communication skills and a relationship-focused customer mindset help you engage diverse audiences effectively
  • A proven ability to meet sales targets and contribute to business growth motivates you, and you’re confident delivering demos and training
  • You work independently in a remote environment while collaborating smoothly with internal teams; knowledge of quality control processes and laboratory/scientific equipment is an advantage
