Position Summary
Located at the Microtrac Inc. manufacturing facility in York, PA, the Senior Accountant is responsible for performing and coordinating day-to-day accounting activities, maintaining accurate and timely financial records, and supporting local and group reporting requirements. The position supervises designated accounts receivable and accounts payable activities and works closely with the General Manager, finance leadership, local employees, and colleagues in the Verder Group.
The Senior Accountant operates within established policies and delegated authority. The role provides accounting, reporting, analysis, and process-support services but does not carry overall responsibility for the company’s finance strategy or function. This position is full-time and in-person.
Responsibilities
- Perform and coordinate day-to-day local accounting activities and supervise the accounts receivable and accounts payable employee.
- Independently complete month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, supporting schedules, and close documentation.
- Prepare accurate and timely local financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and applicable statutory requirements.
- Prepare monthly IFRS group reporting and complete the necessary adjustments and reconciliations from US GAAP to IFRS in accordance with corporate timing requirements.
- Maintain appropriate accounting records, supporting documentation, and internal controls, and identify issues requiring management attention.
- Manage inventory valuation and manufacturing cost accounting; coordinate physical inventory counts and analyze production and inventory variances.
- Provide local management with financial analysis covering business performance, costs, margins, and working capital, and clearly explain findings, risks, and potential actions for management consideration.
- Support the budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow analysis processes by preparing schedules, analyses, and reports.
- Coordinate applicable US tax matters and support external tax advisors with information, schedules, filings, and other requested documentation.
- Serve as the local accounting contact for internal and external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and tax authorities, escalating significant matters to finance leadership.
- Support the transition from Sage to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, including data, testing, documentation, training, and process implementation activities.
- Support the improvement of accounting processes, controls, reporting, and close procedures within delegated authority.
- Collaborate effectively with local employees, group finance teams, sales and applications personnel, and other non-financial stakeholders across locations and functions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least five years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment and an international or multicultural organization.
- Proven hands-on accounting expertise and the ability to independently complete month-end and year-end close activities.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and practical experience preparing IFRS group reporting, including adjustments and reconciliations from US GAAP to IFRS.
- Practical experience with US tax matters and working with external tax advisors.
- Experience preparing financial analyses, budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow schedules.
- Experience using ERP systems for accounting and financial reporting; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations or other manufacturing systems is preferred.
- Experience supervising or coordinating the work of accounting staff.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain financial matters to non-financial colleagues.
- Strong attention to accuracy, deadlines, documentation, and internal controls.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across locations, departments, and functions.
